Edward B. Alwine
As a Graduate form Northeastern High School in Manchester, Pennsylvania, I
resided in York, Pennsylvania with my wife of 25 years. After graduation,
I worked in the machinist trade for eight years and then Columbia Gas of
Pennsylvania for 18 years. The biggest change in my life has been becoming
a father to Andrea in 1983 and Katelyn in 1984. Our family has been very
active in the church. We served as communion stewards, ushers, and greeters.
Our girls attended Bible School and sang on the choir in children's musicals,
and in their teens they attended work camps with church youth groups in the
Appalachian Mountain regions. We were also involved with the York City Helping
Hands for the Homeless.
During the mid 90's I assisted the pastor
of our church in the formation of a contemporary worship
service. In recent years I released two CDs and used
my gift of music to minister at homes for the elderly,
rally days, the York County Prison, Boy Scout events,
benefit concerts, and to shut-ins. I pursued the basic
Lay Speaking course to enhance my ability to present
messages and witness effectively through my music ministry.
Hearing the call to ministry, I completed licensing school
in the spring of 2003. I will begin in the "Course
of Study" at Wesley Seminary, September of 2003.
During my spiritual journey I have used
my musical and lay speaking gifts many, many times. It
has brought me great joy to bring the Word of Jesus to
people of all ages through song and spoken word. I continue
to use the music of classic Christian artist and my original
music and lyrics as tools combined with the spoken Word
to bring people closer to Jesus. Along with preaching
and teaching I believe the musical talent God has given
me will enhance worship and ministry.
My strongest assets are my musical talent,
preaching, and teaching. I have a spirit of forgiveness
and a vision for the future of the church.
